On January 25, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to conduct fumigation at Bonifacio V. Romero High School as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to combat dengue. This fumigation initiative is aligned with the city’s comprehensive 4S strategy, which is aimed at preventing the spread of dengue in local schools and communities.
The 4S strategy involves a series of measures: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, self-protection through the use of repellents, seeking early consultation for any symptoms, and agreeing to fogging in case of an outbreak. The fumigation at Bonifacio V. Romero High School is part of the city’s active approach to reduce the mosquito population and minimize the risk of a dengue outbreak.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation process, working closely with Angeles City Economic Development Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego. Their efforts are focused on ensuring that the fumigation is carried out thoroughly and effectively to create a safer environment for students and school personnel.
The city government’s initiative comes as part of a broader public health campaign to address the growing concerns about dengue, particularly in schools. By taking proactive steps like fumigation, the local government aims to prevent the spread of the disease and protect the well-being of students in the city.
In addition to the fumigation efforts at Bonifacio V. Romero High School, the city plans to conduct similar operations at other public schools across Angeles City. The goal is to ensure that all schools are free from mosquito-borne diseases, reducing the chances of a dengue outbreak within educational institutions.
The fumigation is part of the city’s commitment to public health and hygiene, with the goal of creating a safe environment for learning. Mayor Lazatin’s administration is dedicated to minimizing health risks for students and faculty members, working diligently to ensure that every precaution is taken to safeguard the community.
As the fumigation efforts continue in schools across the city, the Angeles City Government encourages everyone to support the initiative by maintaining a clean environment and participating in dengue prevention activities. Together, the city aims to reduce the impact of dengue and other preventable diseases.
