ANGELES CITY – On March 8, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed members of the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation at Sta. Teresita Elementary School as part of ongoing efforts to combat dengue outbreaks in the city. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure the safety and health of students and staff in local schools.
The fumigation at the school is a key component of the city’s 4S strategy, which stands for search and destroy, self-protection measures, seek early consultation, and say yes to fogging in case of an outbreak. This comprehensive approach is designed to reduce the risk of dengue transmission by addressing both the environment and public awareness.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel oversaw the fumigation operation at Sta. Teresita Elementary School, ensuring the procedures were carried out effectively and safely. She was joined by Angeles City Economic Development Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego, who also supervised the initiative to ensure its proper execution.
The fumigation effort aims to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds within the school premises. By targeting areas with stagnant water, where mosquitoes commonly breed, the operation helps to lower the risk of dengue outbreaks in the area.
This fumigation is just one of several actions being taken by the city government as part of a citywide effort to address the ongoing dengue threat. The city has also committed to conducting similar operations in other public schools across Angeles City to ensure the safety of all students and staff members.
In addition to fumigation, the city’s 4S strategy emphasizes the importance of public cooperation in self-protection measures, such as using mosquito repellent and wearing long sleeves, as well as seeking early medical consultation for any symptoms of dengue fever.
With the support of the city’s barangays, local officials, and residents, the goal is to prevent further outbreaks and protect the health of the community. The city’s proactive approach to dengue prevention reflects its commitment to the well-being of its citizens and the importance of working together to tackle public health challenges.
