ANGELES CITY – On February 14, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed members of the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation at Sitio Target Integrated School as part of the city’s efforts to combat the spread of dengue. The fumigation is part of a broader initiative to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty, and the surrounding community.
The city’s action is part of the 4S strategy against dengue, which stands for “Search and Destroy” mosquito breeding sites, promoting “Self Protection Measures,” encouraging the public to “Seek Early Consultation” if symptoms arise, and supporting “Say Yes to Fogging” in cases of outbreaks. The strategy is being implemented to prevent the spread of the disease in schools and other public areas.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation efforts, ensuring the proper execution of the operation. She is working closely with Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego to guarantee the success of the fumigation activities, which are expected to help control the local mosquito population and reduce the risk of dengue.
Mayor Lazatin reaffirmed the city’s commitment to providing a safe environment for students. “We are prioritizing the health and well-being of our children, and this fumigation is just one of many steps we are taking to protect them from dengue,” he said. The fumigation at Sitio Target Integrated School will be followed by similar initiatives at other public schools across the city.
In addition to fumigation, the city is promoting various preventive measures, such as eliminating standing water, using mosquito repellents, and wearing protective clothing. Public awareness campaigns are also being conducted to educate residents on how they can help reduce the risk of dengue transmission.
Following the successful fumigation at Sitio Target Integrated School, the city government will continue conducting similar operations in other schools and public spaces. These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent dengue outbreaks and protect the community from the health risks posed by the disease.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration remains dedicated to ensuring public health and safety through these proactive measures. The 4S strategy, alongside continuous community engagement, will play a vital role in controlling the spread of dengue and ensuring a safer, healthier environment for all Angeleños.
