The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has resumed its house-to-house distribution of P1,000 financial assistance and a three-month supply of Vitamin C supplements to senior citizens. On January 8, 2025, 2,212 senior citizens from Barangay Pandan were among the recipients of the initiative, which aims to support the health and well-being of the city’s elderly population.
This program will benefit a total of 47,670 registered senior citizens across 33 barangays in Angeles City. As part of the city’s ongoing commitment to senior welfare, the distribution will continue over the coming weeks, ensuring that all elderly residents receive their benefits.
The distribution was led by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), which is headed by Eduardo Torres. Torres and his team have been instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of both cash and health support to senior citizens.
Mayor Lazatin has consistently emphasized the importance of senior citizens in his administration’s priorities, with this program being a clear example of his commitment. “This is part of our continuous effort to prioritize the health and welfare of our senior citizens,” he said.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that all registered seniors will receive the regular cash assistance and Vitamin C supplements. The initiative has become a key program of the city, improving the health of the elderly by providing them with the necessary resources to strengthen their immune systems.
The program has grown year after year. In 2023, 48,439 senior citizens received the assistance, while in 2022, 40,159 seniors benefited from it. In 2021, 53,996 seniors received support, and in 2020, 55,815 seniors were provided the same aid. The growth in numbers reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to its senior population.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated his administration’s pledge to ensure the continued well-being of senior citizens, underscoring that this program will remain a top priority. With this ongoing initiative, the city government is continuing its efforts to ensure that the elderly are well taken care of and supported.
