The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has resumed its house-to-house distribution of P1,000 cash assistance and a three-month supply of Vitamin C supplements for senior citizens. On January 24, 2025, the distribution reached 846 senior citizens in Barangay Claro M. Recto, as part of the city’s commitment to supporting its elderly population.
This initiative will benefit a total of 47,670 registered senior citizens across 33 barangays in the city. Members of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), headed by Eduardo Torres, took the lead in organizing and distributing the assistance directly to the homes of elderly residents, ensuring that they receive the support they need without leaving their homes.
For the fifth consecutive year, Mayor Lazatin’s administration has prioritized the welfare of senior citizens through this regular program. “Tuloy-tuloy po ang mga programang nasimulan natin para sa ating mga senior citizens,” Mayor Lazatin remarked, reinforcing his commitment to ensuring the elderly are well cared for in Angeles City.
Since the program’s launch, the city has consistently provided P1,000 in cash assistance along with a three-month supply of Vitamin C supplements to all registered senior citizens. In 2023, the program reached 48,439 senior citizens, 40,159 in 2022, 53,996 in 2021, and 55,815 in 2020, demonstrating the city government’s ongoing dedication to supporting its aging population.
The cash assistance is aimed at providing financial relief to seniors, while the Vitamin C supplements are intended to help boost their immunity and overall health. These efforts are particularly significant as seniors remain one of the most vulnerable groups, especially during times of health crises and pandemics.
Through this consistent distribution, the Angeles City Government is not only addressing immediate needs but also improving the quality of life for its senior citizens. The city’s initiatives emphasize health, financial stability, and social support, all essential components for maintaining the well-being of its elderly residents.
Mayor Lazatin’s continued support for seniors in Angeles City reflects the city’s focus on inclusivity and care for its most vulnerable citizens. As the distribution moves forward, the city remains steadfast in its mission to improve the lives of its senior citizens through consistent and meaningful assistance programs.
