On March 26, 2025, key stakeholders from three major city councils gathered for a joint first-quarter meeting held at the Century Hotel in Barangay Balibago. The Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC), and the City Advisory Committee of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) came together to align efforts in protecting vulnerable sectors in Angeles City.
The LCPC, a body focused on advancing children’s rights and welfare, led discussions on new strategies and policy updates geared toward child protection. Meanwhile, LCAT-VAWC reviewed existing initiatives that combat trafficking and violence, especially against women and girls, with the goal of strengthening current mechanisms and expanding access to services.
With full backing from Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., the city government reiterated its commitment to building a safer and more inclusive community. The joint meeting aimed to raise awareness on all forms of abuse, highlight legal protections, and inform the public about support services available to victims.
City Councilor Niknok Bañola, who was present at the meeting, commended the active collaboration among local bodies. He emphasized the importance of unified efforts in safeguarding the welfare of women, children, and other vulnerable groups in the city.
Representatives from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), department heads, and partner organizations also joined the discussion. Together, they shared insights and recommendations to improve coordination, referrals, and grassroots implementation of protection programs.
One of the key takeaways from the session was the need for continuous education and advocacy in barangays. Participants agreed that prevention starts with awareness, and planned activities are set to roll out across the city in the coming months, targeting schools, families, and communities.
The Angeles City Government remains proactive in building responsive and inclusive local systems to protect children and uphold the rights of women. The joint council meeting reflects a strong, unified front in championing safety, dignity, and empowerment for all Angeleños.
