The Angeles City Government has recently delivered two truckloads of relief goods valued at P1.3 million to the typhoon-stricken provinces of Camarines Sur and Aurora. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to provide aid to disaster-affected areas, especially during the holiday season when many are in need of assistance.
The relief efforts included P500,000 worth of goods sent to both Aurora and Camarines Sur. The relief packages, which consisted of essential items, were meant to help ease the suffering of families impacted by the recent typhoons in these regions. Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., expressed the city’s commitment to helping fellow Filipinos affected by natural disasters.
In addition to the official relief contributions from the city government, Mayor Lazatin, along with Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, also made personal donations for the victims. Mayor Lazatin donated P200,000 worth of essential goods, while Calaguas and Manuel each contributed P100,000 worth of goods, further supporting the relief efforts.
The goods were transported by two separate teams from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Environmental Management System-City Engineer’s Office. The teams faced challenges, including heavy traffic and mechanical issues, which caused delays during the delivery process. However, despite these setbacks, they were determined to ensure the relief goods reached the affected areas.
The team successfully delivered the first batch of goods to Naga City in Camarines Sur on December 19, 2024, and the second batch to the town of Dinalungan in Aurora on December 21, 2024. The relief efforts were well-received by the residents, who expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance they received during a difficult time.
Mayor Lazatin underscored the importance of helping fellow Filipinos in times of need, regardless of their location. “While we prioritize the safety and welfare of Angeleños during times of disaster, we remain open and ready to extend our help to our fellow countrymen from other regions,” Mayor Lazatin said. His message of solidarity and compassion was a reminder of the power of unity during challenging circumstances.
The Angeles City Government’s relief operations serve as a testament to the city’s commitment to supporting not only its own residents but also fellow Filipinos in times of crisis. Through these efforts, the city continues to promote a sense of compassion and solidarity, especially during the holiday season.
