On December 12, 2024, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., provided P1,000 in cash assistance and five kilos of rice to 43 differently-abled residents of Barangay Lourdes Sur. The distribution, conducted through house-to-house visits, aimed to reach those in need directly and efficiently. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to support persons with disabilities (PWDs) during these challenging times.
The cash aid and rice subsidy were distributed under the guidance of Ryan David, head of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO). David emphasized that this is not the first time the city has extended financial assistance to the PWD community. Mayor Lazatin has long prioritized the welfare of differently-abled individuals, ensuring they have the necessary resources to improve their lives.
In total, 2,500 differently-abled residents across Angeles City will receive the same aid package, consisting of P1,000 and five kilos of rice each. This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable sectors, especially the PWD community, who are often at a disadvantage during difficult times.
The house-to-house distribution method was chosen to ensure that aid reached everyone, particularly those who might have mobility issues or face difficulties in traveling to designated distribution points. By bringing the support directly to the recipients, the city government has made sure that no one is left behind.
Mayor Lazatin has always emphasized inclusivity in his leadership, recognizing that the differently-abled individuals deserve equal opportunities and access to the resources they need. Through programs like this, the local government continues to show its dedication to building a more compassionate and supportive community for all citizens, regardless of their abilities.
The city’s Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office has played a crucial role in implementing this program, working closely with local officials to ensure the distribution runs smoothly. With the help of the PDAO and other partners, the city is able to provide efficient and accessible services to its differently-abled residents.
As the holiday season progresses, the city plans to continue offering assistance to its PWD residents, ensuring that their needs are met. Mayor Lazatin reiterated his commitment to helping all Angeleños, particularly those with disabilities, to lead fulfilling lives, and promised further support in the future.
