On January 9, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began its house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to 19 bedridden senior citizens and four elderly residents aged 90 to 99 in Barangay Pampang. This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to supporting its elderly residents, especially those in vulnerable situations.
Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by City Councilor Dr. Mich Bonifacio and the members of the Barangay Pampang Council, led by Barangay Captain Carlos Dela Cruz. Together, they made sure that the senior citizens received their much-needed support directly at their homes, ensuring their well-being.
This distribution is part of a larger effort to provide aid to 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 elderly individuals aged 90 to 99 across the 33 barangays in Angeles City. In addition to the financial aid and Vitamin C supplements, the elderly recipients will also benefit from free medical check-ups, laboratory tests, and vaccinations, all provided by the City Health Office and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Mayor Lazatin stated that this initiative is part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the health and welfare of bedridden seniors and those aged 90-99, ensuring that they receive both the financial and healthcare support they need. His goal is to make sure these individuals are well cared for and their needs are met.
The distribution process was led by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), with Eduardo Torres heading the team. Torres explained that this initiative, which includes regular cash assistance and health support, was started in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin first took office.
Torres further noted that it is during Mayor Lazatin’s leadership that registered senior citizens began receiving regular financial aid and health supplements, including Vitamin C, a move that has positively impacted the lives of many seniors in the city.
Through such programs, Mayor Lazatin continues to prioritize the welfare of Angeles City’s elderly population. By offering consistent support, from financial assistance to healthcare services, the city government ensures that the senior citizens are well supported in their golden years.
