ANGELES CITY – On March 10, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., launched the house-to-house distribution of financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to bedridden senior citizens and those aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Pulung Maragul. Nine bedridden seniors and 12 others in the 90-99 age group received the much-needed support.
Mayor Lazatin, accompanied by members of the Barangay Pulung Maragul Council, led by Captain Edgar Avillon, personally oversaw the distribution in the area. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to support the elderly, especially those in critical need due to their health conditions.
The distribution program is set to benefit a total of 664 registered bedridden senior citizens and 612 registered seniors aged 90-99 years old across all 33 barangays in Angeles City. Each eligible senior citizen will receive P3,000 in cash assistance along with Vitamin C supplements to help maintain their health and boost their immune systems.
In addition to the financial aid and supplements, the city government, in collaboration with the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, will provide free medical check-ups and laboratory tests to the elderly. This initiative aims to ensure the well-being of those who need medical attention the most.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated that supporting the elderly, particularly those who are bedridden or of advanced age, remains a priority for the city administration. “This program is just one of many steps we are taking to ensure that our senior citizens are cared for and receive the attention they deserve,” he said.
The distribution of aid to senior citizens began in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin took office. Since then, this initiative has become a regular program, and it is during his leadership that the registered seniors have received both cash assistance and Vitamin C supplements for the first time.
Eduardo Torres, head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, expressed that this program reflects the city’s strong commitment to the welfare of the elderly. The initiative has continued to evolve since its inception, showing the city’s unwavering dedication to improving the quality of life for its senior residents.
