ANGELES CITY – On January 30, 2025, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began its house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to bedridden senior citizens and those aged 90-99 in Barangay Pandan. The initiative, which aims to support the city’s elderly population, was carried out with the help of Barangay Pandan Captain Cors Alejandrino and members of the Barangay Council.
This distribution is part of a larger effort to assist 664 registered bedridden senior citizens and 612 senior citizens aged 90-99 years old across the city’s 33 barangays. Each recipient will receive the financial aid and Vitamin C supplements as part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the health and well-being of its elderly population.
In addition to the cash aid and supplements, bedridden seniors and elderly residents in this age group will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, services being provided by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. These medical services are aimed at improving their overall health and providing support where it’s needed most.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the program reflects his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the elderly, especially those who are bedridden or in the most vulnerable age group of 90-99 years old. He stated that this initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that these senior citizens are not overlooked and receive the necessary care and assistance.
The distribution of assistance is led by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, headed by Eduardo Torres, who noted that this program has been a hallmark of Mayor Lazatin’s tenure. Torres explained that this initiative, which started in 2019 when Lazatin first assumed office, marks a significant step in supporting the elderly, with registered seniors now receiving much-needed financial aid and health supplements.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration has made the welfare of the elderly a top priority, working to improve their quality of life through both financial support and health-related services. The inclusion of free vaccines, medical check-ups, and laboratory tests further demonstrates the city’s dedication to the well-being of its senior citizens.
Through this initiative, the Angeles City Government continues to set a strong example of how local governments can provide compassionate and effective support to their aging populations. With more assistance planned for the coming months, the city is ensuring that the elderly citizens receive the care and attention they deserve.
