In a continuing effort to support the city’s elderly population, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., launched a house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements on March 3, 2025. The initiative specifically targets bedridden senior citizens and those aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Cutcut, with the goal of providing much-needed support to the city’s most vulnerable elderly residents.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by the Barangay Cutcut Council, headed by Barangay Captain Robin Nepomuceno, as they oversaw the distribution process. The program is part of a broader effort to assist the elderly across Angeles City, with over 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 senior citizens aged 90-99 years old from all 33 barangays set to receive cash aid and Vitamin C supplements.
In addition to the financial and health assistance, the elderly beneficiaries will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, coordinated by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. These services aim to ensure the overall well-being of the elderly, especially those who are bedridden or advanced in age, ensuring that they receive the medical attention they need.
“This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to prioritize the needs of our elderly citizens, particularly those who are bedridden or in their senior years,” said Mayor Lazatin. He emphasized that supporting the elderly, especially those who are in critical health conditions, is a key part of his administration’s agenda for social welfare.
The distribution of financial assistance and health supplements is a continuation of a program that was started in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin took office. Under his leadership, the city has ensured that senior citizens, particularly the most vulnerable, are given not only financial aid but also essential health products to support their well-being. Vitamin C supplements are part of the city’s efforts to boost the immune systems of elderly citizens, particularly those in poor health.
Eduardo Torres, the head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, coordinated the distribution with his team. He stated that the program, which started in 2019, has provided significant help to the elderly in Angeles City, especially during difficult times. It is during Mayor Lazatin’s tenure that registered senior citizens began receiving consistent financial assistance and essential health supplements like Vitamin C.
The welfare of the elderly remains a top priority for Mayor Lazatin’s administration. With this initiative, the city government hopes to ease the financial burden on senior citizens and improve their quality of life, reinforcing its commitment to the well-being of all its residents, especially the elderly who have contributed so much to the community.
