On February 12, 2025, 35 differently-abled individuals from Barangay Claro M. Recto received P1,000 in cash assistance along with five kilos of rice each through a house-to-house distribution led by Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. The initiative aims to support the city’s differently-abled residents and provide them with essential aid.
Accompanied by the Barangay Claro M. Recto Council, headed by Barangay Captain Alexander De Guzman, Mayor Lazatin personally ensured that the assistance reached those in need. The event also saw the involvement of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office, which is headed by Ryan David, who helped facilitate the smooth distribution of aid.
Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to the welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs) is well known. This latest distribution is just one of many efforts to provide ongoing support to this sector. According to Ryan David, this is not the first time that the city government has provided such assistance to PWDs, underscoring the city’s long-standing dedication to improving the lives of differently-abled individuals.
The financial aid and rice subsidy program is part of the city’s broader initiative to support 2,500 differently-abled Angeleños. In addition to the financial assistance, the five kilos of rice help ensure that these individuals can meet their basic nutritional needs.
Mayor Lazatin has consistently prioritized the well-being of the PWD community, and this distribution is a direct reflection of that ongoing commitment. The assistance also serves as an important reminder of the city government’s role in supporting vulnerable sectors of the population, particularly those with disabilities.
The welfare of PWDs remains one of the key priorities of Mayor Lazatin’s administration. This initiative, alongside other programs targeting senior citizens and other vulnerable groups, reflects the mayor’s vision of an inclusive Angeles City where no one is left behind.
In total, the city government plans to extend this financial and rice assistance to all 2,500 differently-abled individuals registered in Angeles City, ensuring that they receive the support they need to lead better lives.
