Angeles City has enhanced its security infrastructure with the installation of 210 additional security cameras, bringing the total number of cameras to 375 across the city. This expansion eliminates any remaining blind spots, ensuring comprehensive surveillance and greater safety for residents and businesses. The new cameras are strategically placed in key locations, bolstering crime prevention efforts across the city.
Among the newly installed cameras are 16 automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) CCTV cameras positioned at the city’s boundaries, including areas in Porac, Mabalacat City, San Fernando, and Magalang. These cameras will enhance the monitoring of vehicles entering and exiting the city, contributing to better traffic and security management.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. stated that the addition of 210 new cameras will further strengthen the city’s crime prevention strategies and improve overall security. He also revealed that the city has employed 39 new CCTV operators, expanding the total number of operators to 72, working in three shifts to monitor the security footage around the clock.
The city’s command center is now equipped with high-tech computers and features a wide array of surveillance tools, including 125 PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras, each with 8mp resolution and 36x optical zoom capabilities, as well as 250 bullet cameras with 4mp resolution. These cameras are fully supported by a fiber optic cable network to ensure high-quality, reliable surveillance.
In addition to the new cameras, the command center also boasts an advanced facial recognition security door lock system, providing an additional layer of protection for sensitive areas. This cutting-edge technology is designed to enhance the safety and security of key locations within the city.
On February 6, 2025, Mayor Lazatin, alongside Converge ICT Solution Inc. Founder Dennis Anthony Uy, led the official inauguration of the expanded Command Center at Angeles City Hall. The event marked the launch of the new CCTV installations and emphasized the city’s commitment to improving public safety through technology.
As part of his broader public safety initiatives, Mayor Lazatin has called on barangay officials and homeowners’ associations to complement the city’s efforts by installing security cameras in local roads and subdivisions. This will help prevent petty crimes, such as burglary, from affecting residents and ensure that all areas of the city are under continuous surveillance.
