The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began the distribution of P1,000 cash assistance and five kilos of rice to 43 registered solo parents in Barangay Pulung Cacutud on January 27, 2025. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing support for its solo parent community, providing much-needed aid to those who are registered with the city’s Solo Parents Affairs Office.
A total of 2,500 registered solo parents across the 33 barangays in Angeles City are set to receive the cash aid and rice subsidy. The distribution was led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), under the direction of Francis De Guzman, who emphasized the significance of this support for solo parents.
“Solo parents are very grateful because Mayor Lazatin has always made sure they receive assistance,” said De Guzman. He highlighted that the initiative is a testament to the mayor’s ongoing commitment to helping families in need, especially solo parents who face unique challenges in raising their children alone.
In addition to cash and rice aid, the city has also been focusing on empowering solo parents through various livelihood programs. De Guzman mentioned that the city’s Angeleño First Facemask livelihood project has been particularly beneficial for solo parents, providing them with an opportunity to earn income while supporting their families.
Since Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, the CSWDO has been actively issuing IDs for members of the solo parent community. These IDs help solo parents access various benefits and services, including financial assistance, healthcare, and other social support.
This distribution is part of the city’s continued efforts to uplift the welfare of its solo parents, ensuring that they receive the necessary resources to support their families. The city government aims to provide consistent aid and opportunities for livelihood to all registered solo parents.
As the city continues to provide these much-needed services, it remains committed to supporting the well-being of all Angeleños, especially vulnerable groups like solo parents who are essential to the community’s growth and development.
