The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., has begun a new round of house-to-house distributions for bedridden senior citizens and elderly aged 90-99 years old. On February 4, 2025, the city started delivering P3,000 in financial assistance along with Vitamin C supplements to 13 bedridden elderly residents and six senior citizens aged 90-99 in Barangay Tabun.
Mayor Lazatin was present during the distribution event, joined by the Barangay Tabun Council led by Captain Angel Cordero. The initiative is aimed at providing additional support to the elderly, especially those who are unable to leave their homes due to health conditions. This marks a continued effort to prioritize the welfare of the elderly residents within the community.
In total, the Angeles City Government plans to distribute cash aid and Vitamin C supplements to 664 bedridden senior citizens and 612 seniors aged 90-99 from all 33 barangays across the city. The ongoing initiative underscores the city’s commitment to providing both financial and health support for its senior population, especially those most in need.
As part of this program, the bedridden elderly and seniors in the 90-99 age group will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, courtesy of the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. These medical services are designed to ensure that the elderly receive comprehensive care to improve their well-being.
This assistance program, which includes the distribution of vitamins, financial aid, and medical services, has been in place since 2019 when Mayor Lazatin first took office. The initiative was introduced to address the needs of the elderly and has expanded significantly to ensure that as many seniors as possible benefit from these services.
Eduardo Torres, head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), supervised the distribution of the financial assistance and health products. He noted that this effort is part of a larger strategy to care for the elderly, providing essential resources to improve their quality of life and maintain their health.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated that the welfare of the elderly will remain a key priority throughout his leadership. He stressed that ensuring seniors have access to financial support, health services, and proper nutrition through Vitamin C supplements is vital for promoting their well-being during their golden years.
The Angeles City Government’s initiative highlights its dedication to improving the lives of its elderly citizens, offering vital resources and support to help them live more comfortably and healthily.
