On February 6, 2025, the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began the distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to bedridden senior citizens and those aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Pulungbulu. This initiative aims to support the elderly, particularly those who are confined to their homes and in their senior years.
Mayor Lazatin was joined by the Barangay Pulungbulu Council, headed by Captain Lorna Zabala, during the event. Together, they delivered the assistance to 20 bedridden senior citizens and three elderly residents aged 90 to 99 years old. The distribution marks the start of an ongoing effort to provide aid to the elderly population across the city.
In total, the city is set to provide financial support and Vitamin C supplements to approximately 664 registered bedridden senior citizens and 612 senior citizens between the ages of 90 and 99 from the 33 barangays in Angeles City. The initiative is part of the local government’s continuing commitment to prioritize the welfare of its elderly residents.
Additionally, the bedridden elderly and those in the 90-99 age group will receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests. These services will be offered by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, ensuring that senior citizens receive comprehensive healthcare support.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this assistance is just one of many ways the local government continues to prioritize the health and well-being of the elderly. The distribution of financial aid and health supplements demonstrates the administration’s ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable members of the community.
This initiative, led by Eduardo Torres from the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, is a continuation of a program that began in 2019 when Mayor Lazatin first took office. Since then, registered senior citizens have received cash aid and Vitamin C supplements, a crucial support measure that had not been implemented prior to Lazatin’s tenure.
The welfare of senior citizens has been a key focus of the Lazatin administration, with this initiative serving as another step in improving the lives of elderly residents in Angeles City. Through consistent efforts, the city continues to provide necessary support to the aging population, ensuring they remain healthy and well cared for.
