Angeles City has officially unveiled the “Angeleño Alerto! POGI Emergency App,” making it the first of its kind in Pampanga. The app, designed to enhance emergency response systems, was launched on January 28, 2025, during an event at Barangay Pandan’s covered court. This groundbreaking mobile app aims to significantly improve the city’s ability to respond to emergencies by providing residents a direct line to local responders.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. expressed that the primary goal of the app is to strengthen the city’s emergency capabilities, allowing residents to instantly report incidents and share their precise locations with the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO). ACDRRMO, led by Rodolfo Simeon, will be the first to respond to emergencies reported through the app. The launch included a demonstration showcasing the app’s key features, emphasizing its importance in times of crisis.
Pampanga 1st District Representative Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II also attended the event, underlining the significance of such technology in ensuring the safety of the community. Mayor Lazatin highlighted that minimizing response times is a critical objective of his administration. “The safety of every Angeleño is our priority. With this app, we can reduce response time and ensure that help arrives faster,” the mayor said, emphasizing the urgency of swift action during emergencies.
IC Calaguas, the Mayor’s Chief Adviser and Tactician, who played an integral role in the app’s development, alongside Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and ICT Division Chief Mike Lising, explained the features of the app. One of the standout features is the location-sharing function, which enables emergency responders to find incidents even when direct communication is not possible. “This technology empowers Angeleños to take control of their safety. No matter where you are, help is now just a tap away,” Calaguas said.
The app, which is free to download, will go through an easy installation process, after which users must register. Once registered, residents can call on responders from the ACDRRMO, Bureau of Fire Protection – Angeles City, or the Angeles City Traffic and Management Enforcement Unit. Lising noted that the app was designed to be user-friendly, ensuring quick access during critical moments.
Calaguas also revealed that a step-by-step guide on how to register and use the app will be posted on the Angeles City Information Office’s Facebook page. This will help residents understand how to make the most out of the new technology, which is crucial for ensuring timely emergency responses.
The Angeleño Alerto! POGI Emergency App is a significant step toward improving disaster preparedness and emergency response in Angeles City. Mayor Lazatin reiterated the importance of the app in keeping residents safe and assured them that the city government is committed to advancing technology to enhance public safety for all Angeleños.
