On January 6, 2025, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to 11 bedridden senior citizens and seven senior citizens aged 90 to 99 years old in Barangay Lourdes Northwest. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to support its elderly residents.
Accompanied by City Councilor JC Aguas, Mayor Lazatin led the distribution, along with members of the Barangay Lourdes Northwest Council, headed by Captain Nicanor Soriano. The effort is designed to provide financial relief and support for the health of the city’s most vulnerable senior citizens.
A total of 664 registered bedridden elderly and 612 senior citizens aged 90 to 99 from all 33 barangays in Angeles City will benefit from the cash aid and Vitamin C supplements. The initiative is a direct response to the needs of elderly residents who require additional care and attention due to their age or health conditions.
In addition to financial aid and supplements, bedridden elderly and those aged 90-99 will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, organized by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. This is part of the city’s comprehensive healthcare services for senior citizens.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that his administration is committed to continuing its efforts to prioritize the welfare of bedridden seniors and those in their 90s. By ensuring that these residents receive necessary medical and financial support, the city aims to improve their quality of life and help them maintain better health.
The distribution of assistance for bedridden seniors and those aged 90-99 was coordinated by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, led by Eduardo Torres. Torres shared that this initiative began in 2019, shortly after Mayor Lazatin assumed office, as part of his commitment to improving the lives of senior citizens. Under Lazatin’s leadership, registered senior citizens have been receiving regular cash aid and health support, including Vitamin C supplements.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration continues to make the welfare of elderly residents a top priority. This latest initiative reflects his dedication to providing comprehensive care and assistance, ensuring that no senior citizen is left behind in the city’s efforts to promote their well-being.
