ANGELES CITY – On March 17, 2025, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel conducted an inspection of the city’s first-ever wastewater treatment facility at the Pampang Public Market. This facility, which was fully funded by the city government, is designed to treat wastewater and convert it into reusable, clean, and safe water. The project aims to reduce water pollution from the market while conserving precious water resources.
During the inspection, Manuel was accompanied by Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, Angeles City Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui, and General Services Officer Evangeline Malonzo. The group toured the facility, which is a significant step toward sustainable water management in the city. The facility will play a key role in reducing contaminants in wastewater, ensuring that waterborne diseases and pollution risks are minimized.
The new wastewater treatment facility is part of the city’s broader effort to address environmental concerns and promote sustainable practices. By treating wastewater and making it reusable, the facility will help reduce the demand for fresh water, leading to cost savings for the public market. This innovative solution will also significantly reduce the environmental impact of wastewater discharge.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has made environmental sustainability a priority, and this wastewater treatment facility is an important milestone in his administration’s efforts to protect natural resources. The facility is expected to improve the health and safety of the community by ensuring that water systems remain clean and free from harmful contaminants.
One of the key benefits of this new system is that it will not only clean the water but also contribute to long-term water conservation. This will help alleviate water shortages and ensure that the market continues to operate smoothly without straining the city’s water supply. The treated water will be used for non-potable purposes, such as irrigation and cleaning, further reducing the demand for fresh water.
The facility’s construction marks a significant achievement in Angeles City’s journey toward becoming a more eco-conscious and resource-efficient community. It is expected that the success of this project will pave the way for similar initiatives in other parts of the city, promoting broader environmental sustainability efforts.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration continues to focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly projects that will benefit both residents and the city as a whole. With the launch of the Pampang Public Market’s wastewater treatment facility, the city is taking a major step toward ensuring a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for all Angeleños.
