On February 19, 2025, the Angeles City Government, in partnership with the City Veterinary Office, conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats in Barangay Sto. Cristo. The initiative, which underscores the city’s commitment to animal welfare, aims to provide essential health services to pets while also promoting responsible pet ownership across the community.
The vaccination event was spearheaded by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, head of the City Veterinary Office, and is part of a larger calendar of vaccinations scheduled for all 33 barangays in Angeles City. This initiative is designed to protect both pets and humans from the dangers of rabies, a viral disease that poses serious health risks to both animals and people.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, known for her love for animals, highlighted that this program has been an ongoing effort by the city government since Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. took office. She expressed her enthusiasm for the program, noting that it reflects the city’s strong dedication to the welfare of animals. The initiative is supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the free vaccination program is an important step in promoting responsible pet ownership. He called on all pet owners in the city to take advantage of the free anti-rabies vaccination services, urging them to bring their pets to the scheduled vaccination sessions in their respective barangays.
“Nanawagan po ako sa lahat ng mga pet owners na pabakunahan ang kanilang mga alagang hayop sa gagawing Bakuna sa Barangay para sa mga alagang aso at pusa,” Lazatin said, encouraging the community to actively participate in the program.
The vaccination program aims to curb the spread of rabies and ensure that pets are well-cared for and protected against preventable diseases. It also plays a crucial role in fostering a safer environment for both animals and humans in the city.
In conclusion, this ongoing initiative reflects the city’s strong commitment to public health and animal welfare. By providing free vaccinations to pets, the city government is helping to safeguard the health of its residents while promoting a culture of responsible pet ownership across Angeles City.
