ANGELES CITY – On February 24, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. instructed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation activities in Barangay San Jose as part of the city’s continued efforts to combat the spread of dengue. The fumigation is an essential measure aimed at preventing the occurrence of dengue, a serious mosquito-borne disease that poses a health risk to the community.
This fumigation activity is part of the city’s comprehensive approach to managing and preventing the spread of dengue. The city government is actively implementing the 4S strategy, which includes search and destroy, self-protection measures, seeking early consultation, and saying yes to fogging in case of an outbreak. These steps are designed to control the mosquito population and reduce the risk of dengue transmission in the city.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the fumigation initiative is not limited to Barangay San Jose, but will be extended to other barangays across the city. The goal is to ensure that all areas, especially those identified as high-risk for mosquito-borne diseases, receive the necessary attention and preventive measures. The fumigation process aims to eliminate mosquito larvae and adult mosquitoes, which are the primary vectors for dengue fever.
In addition to fumigation, the city is also promoting awareness campaigns to encourage residents to take precautionary measures in their homes. This includes eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed, using mosquito repellents, and wearing protective clothing to reduce the risk of bites. The city government is urging everyone to take these self-protection measures seriously, as they are essential to keeping the community safe.
Mayor Lazatin has been proactive in addressing public health concerns in the city, particularly with the increasing threat of dengue during the rainy season. With the city’s proactive approach and the continued efforts to reduce mosquito breeding grounds, Lazatin is hopeful that the measures being taken will effectively prevent dengue outbreaks and protect the health of Angeleños.
The city’s focus on early intervention, coupled with community cooperation, is expected to significantly reduce the chances of an outbreak. By supporting initiatives like fumigation and promoting the 4S strategy, the local government hopes to foster a more proactive and health-conscious community.
As the city government expands its fumigation efforts in other barangays, residents are urged to stay vigilant and participate in the ongoing battle against dengue. With consistent effort and collaboration, the city aims to safeguard the well-being of its citizens and ensure a healthier environment for all.
