ANGELES CITY – On February 14, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation at Sapangbato National High School as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of dengue. The fumigation is a key part of the city’s comprehensive strategy to protect students and faculty from the disease.
This initiative is in line with the city’s 4S strategy, which includes “Search and Destroy” mosquito breeding grounds, encouraging “Self Protection Measures,” promoting early consultation for symptoms, and supporting “Say Yes to Fogging” in cases of outbreaks. These combined efforts aim to minimize the presence of mosquitoes and reduce the risk of dengue transmission.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation operation at Sapangbato National High School, working alongside Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego. Together, they are ensuring that the fumigation process is carried out effectively to help curb the spread of dengue in the area.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of these actions in safeguarding the health of the community, especially students. “We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for our children by addressing dengue risks head-on,” he said. The fumigation at Sapangbato National High School is the first step in a series of fumigation operations across other public schools in the city.
In addition to the fumigation efforts, the city is encouraging residents and school communities to take part in dengue prevention by eliminating mosquito breeding sites, using repellents, and practicing proper sanitation. The city’s public health campaigns are also focused on educating the public about the importance of these preventive measures.
Following the fumigation at Sapangbato National High School, similar activities will be conducted at other schools throughout the city. This citywide approach is part of the mayor’s strategy to reduce dengue transmission in both educational institutions and residential areas.
With these ongoing efforts, Mayor Lazatin’s administration continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of all Angeleños. By implementing the 4S strategy and other preventive measures, the city aims to keep dengue under control and ensure the health of its residents.
