ANGELES CITY – In response to the ongoing threat of dengue, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. directed the Angeles City Barangay Outreach team to carry out fumigation at Salapungan Elementary School on February 14, 2025. This initiative is part of the city’s proactive efforts to protect the health of students and staff members from mosquito-borne diseases.
The fumigation at the school is part of the city’s comprehensive 4S strategy. This approach includes “Search and Destroy” mosquito breeding sites, promoting “Self Protection Measures,” encouraging the public to “Seek Early Consultation” when symptoms arise, and supporting “Say Yes to Fogging” during outbreaks. These combined efforts are aimed at reducing the risk of dengue transmission across the city.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel is overseeing the fumigation operation, working in collaboration with Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Chief Irish Bonus-Llego. Both officials are ensuring that the fumigation process is carried out effectively at the school to safeguard the health of the community.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his firm commitment to ensuring that all public schools in the city are protected from dengue. “We will continue to implement these preventive measures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our students,” he stated. The fumigation at Salapungan Elementary is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of the disease in schools and other public spaces.
In addition to the fumigation efforts, the city government has also been actively educating residents about the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites and taking personal protective steps. These measures include using mosquito repellents, wearing appropriate clothing, and getting rid of standing water around homes.
Following the fumigation at Salapungan Elementary, similar activities will be conducted at other public schools across Angeles City. This widespread initiative is aimed at minimizing the risk of dengue outbreaks and ensuring the safety of all students and faculty members.
With this proactive approach, Mayor Lazatin’s administration is demonstrating its commitment to the health and well-being of its residents. Through the 4S strategy and continuous public awareness campaigns, the city hopes to successfully control the spread of dengue and create a healthier, safer environment for all.
