On January 28, 2025, Angeles City officially launched the Angeleño Alerto! 24/7 Mobile App, also known as the Personal On-call Guard Interface (POGI), marking a significant step in enhancing the city’s emergency response capabilities. The grand launching event, which took place at the Barangay Pandan covered court, was led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. and attended by various city officials and residents eager to learn more about the app’s benefits.
Mayor Lazatin explained that the POGI app is designed to empower Angeleños by allowing them to directly report incidents and share their exact locations with emergency responders. This will help speed up the response process during critical situations, ensuring that help arrives faster and more efficiently. The app connects users with responders from the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), led by Rodolfo Simeon, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Angeles City Police Office.
During the launch, a simulation was conducted to showcase the app’s real-time emergency response capabilities. The demonstration highlighted how the app allows for quick communication and faster delivery of services, reducing the response time to just eight minutes. Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of swift action in emergencies, stating, “With this app, we can cut response time and ensure that help arrives faster.”
The app’s main feature allows residents to report incidents in real-time and share their precise location with emergency responders. This feature ensures that even if the user is unable to provide detailed information during an emergency, responders can still reach the exact location quickly. “This app will enable us to improve public safety and make emergency response much more efficient,” said Mayor Lazatin.
The launch of the POGI app is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to utilizing technology to improve disaster preparedness and overall public safety. IC Calaguas, the Mayor’s Chief Adviser, who played a key role in overseeing the project, said, “No matter where you are, help is now just a tap away.” This reflects the city’s aim to provide a seamless, accessible way for residents to get the assistance they need in times of crisis.
The app is free to download and provides users with a simple registration process. Step-by-step instructions for downloading and using the app will be made available on the Angeles City Information Office’s official Facebook page. The city hopes to encourage widespread adoption of the app, further integrating technology into everyday public services.
Present at the event were DILG – Angeles City Director Yvette Cosio, the 33 barangay captains and kagawads, as well as other department heads and city officials. The launch marks an important milestone in the city’s efforts to enhance public safety, providing Angeleños with the tools they need to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
