Angeles City continues to lead in local fiscal management, as it has once again been recognized for securing the Top 1 position in the Highest Locally Sourced Collection in Central Luzon for the fifth consecutive year. Under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., the city has shown consistent growth in its locally sourced revenues from 2019 to 2023. The city’s revenues amounted to ₱1.64 billion in 2019, ₱1.60 billion in 2020, ₱1.52 billion in 2021, ₱1.49 billion in 2022, and ₱1.65 billion in 2023.
This remarkable achievement highlights the city’s continuous progress in fiscal management. Mayor Lazatin expressed his appreciation for the collective efforts of the local government team, including key departments such as the City Treasurer’s Office, led by Arneil Escolangco, the City Assessor’s Office, headed by Michael Calaguas, and the Business Permit and Licensing Division, led by Enrico Romero.
“These recognitions are a testament to our administration’s commitment to ensuring fiscal sustainability, enabling us to provide quality services and programs to our constituents,” Mayor Lazatin remarked. He attributed this success to the teamwork and dedication of all departments involved in the city’s financial operations.
City Treasurer Arneil Escolangco credited the city’s consistent success to the dedication of the treasury team and the strong leadership of the city’s officials, including Mayor Lazatin, Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel. Escolangco emphasized that the city’s performance is a reflection of the administration’s focus on transparency and efficient financial management.
The city’s fiscal success is not limited to just locally sourced revenue collection. In 2023, Angeles City ranked Top 2 in Central Luzon for the highest ratio of locally sourced revenues to total current income, and in 2022, it ranked Top 3 for locally sourced revenues to total current operating income. These rankings underscore the city’s strong fiscal position in the region.
In addition to these achievements, Angeles City was also recognized among the top 10 cities nationwide for the collection efficiency of locally sourced revenues, with a 130.9% collection efficiency rate in 2020. This exceptional performance demonstrates the city’s effectiveness in managing its resources and maximizing revenue generation.
With these impressive accomplishments, Angeles City is poised to continue its path of fiscal success, ensuring that it can provide essential services and development projects that benefit the Angeleños.
