On February 26, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. participated in the initial stage of the Level 2 Accreditation process for seven bachelor programs at City College of Angeles (CCA). This step is part of the efforts to enhance the quality of education and improve the reputation of the institution through the accreditation process overseen by the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA).
Accompanying Mayor Lazatin during the event were City Councilor Edu Pamintuan and CCA President Dr. Frankie Villanueva. Together, they supported the initial phase of the accreditation for the college’s bachelor programs, demonstrating their commitment to advancing educational standards in Angeles City.
The programs undergoing Level 2 accreditation include Bachelor of Library and Information Science, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Bachelor of Physical Education, and Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education. These programs are vital to the development of future professionals in various sectors, from technology to education.
During the accreditation process, institutions are assessed on their curriculum, facilities, faculty, and overall performance in delivering quality education. Level 2 accreditation is a significant achievement, as it represents a higher standard of educational excellence that meets national and regional standards. This accreditation will help improve CCA’s programs, making them more competitive and attractive to potential students.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his strong support for the college’s pursuit of accreditation, recognizing the importance of providing students with a high-quality education that prepares them for success in their respective fields. He emphasized the role of the local government in supporting educational institutions to ensure they are equipped with the resources needed to thrive.
Dr. Frankie Villanueva, President of CCA, also highlighted the importance of the accreditation process. He noted that this step would significantly improve the college’s academic standing and ensure that the institution continues to offer relevant and effective programs for students. Villanueva added that the accreditation would open doors for future opportunities and partnerships with other universities and industries.
As CCA moves forward with the Level 2 accreditation process, the support of Mayor Lazatin and local officials will continue to play a crucial role in enhancing the college’s capacity to deliver high-quality education to the youth of Angeles City. With this accreditation, CCA aims to strengthen its reputation as a premier educational institution in the region.
