The Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, has launched a free anti-rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats in Barangay Lourdes Sur East on February 21, 2025. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare, ensuring the health and safety of pets in the community.
Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, the head of the City Veterinary Office, is overseeing a series of vaccination events across the city’s 33 barangays. The program is designed to combat the spread of rabies, a deadly disease that affects both animals and humans. By providing these free services, the city aims to create a healthier environment for both pets and their owners.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, a known animal lover, highlighted the importance of the initiative and emphasized the city’s continuous efforts to support responsible pet ownership. “This is part of a long-standing program that we have implemented since Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. assumed office,” said Manuel, adding that the project is closely supervised by the Mayor’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas.
Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. expressed his full support for the program, saying that it reflects the city’s dedication to ensuring the welfare of animals. “We are encouraging pet owners to have their dogs and cats vaccinated during these scheduled events. Rabies is preventable, and vaccination is key to avoiding its spread,” Lazatin said.
The free vaccination program aims to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership, a value that the city government has been promoting since the start of Lazatin’s administration. The initiative also aims to minimize the risk of rabies in the local population and enhance the quality of life for pets and their owners.
With the continuing efforts of the City Veterinary Office, all 33 barangays in Angeles City will have their scheduled vaccination days. This ensures that all pet owners in the area will have easy access to the service, strengthening the community’s commitment to animal health.
Residents are urged to bring their dogs and cats to the designated vaccination sites in their barangays. The city government’s commitment to providing this service demonstrates the administration’s dedication to maintaining public health and promoting responsible pet care among Angeleño households.
