On March 11, 2025, the Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats in Barangay Tabun. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare and public health, as the government continues to address the importance of rabies prevention among pets in the community.
The vaccination event was spearheaded by the City Veterinary Office, under the leadership of Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, who has organized a comprehensive schedule for the vaccination of pets in all 33 barangays of Angeles City. The initiative aims to reduce the risk of rabies transmission and promote healthier pets throughout the city.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who is known for her love of animals, also expressed her support for the program. She shared that this initiative has been part of the city’s agenda ever since Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. assumed office. The program is supervised by the Mayor’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas, ensuring its smooth implementation across various barangays.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the significance of responsible pet ownership and the role that this vaccination drive plays in ensuring the safety of both pets and residents. He encouraged all pet owners in Angeles City to take advantage of the free vaccinations and have their dogs and cats vaccinated against rabies to help prevent the spread of the disease.
“Nanawagan po ako sa lahat ng mga pet owners na pabakunahan ang kanilang mga alagang hayop sa gagawing Bakuna sa Barangay para sa mga alagang aso at pusa,” Mayor Lazatin urged. This message highlights the city’s commitment to improving public health through preventive measures.
The vaccination program is designed to foster responsible pet ownership by providing pet owners with the necessary tools and support to protect their animals. By offering the vaccinations free of charge, the city government is making it easier for pet owners to ensure their pets’ well-being and safety.
Through this program, the city government aims to create a healthier environment for both animals and people, helping to eliminate the threat of rabies in the community. The ongoing vaccination schedule will continue throughout the year as part of the city’s broader efforts to promote animal welfare and public health.
