On February 11, 2025, the Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, launched a free anti-rabies vaccination drive for dogs and cats in Barangay Agapito Del Rosario. This initiative, which emphasizes the city’s commitment to animal welfare, was led by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, head of the City Veterinary Office, and is part of a city-wide program to ensure the health and safety of pets across Angeles City.
The vaccination drive is part of a comprehensive schedule set by the City Veterinary Office, which aims to vaccinate pets in all 33 barangays of Angeles City. The city government has organized this program to protect both pets and residents from the dangers of rabies, a serious health threat to both animals and humans.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who is known for her passion for animals, stated that this initiative has been an ongoing program since Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. took office. The program, which is overseen by the Mayor’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, highlights the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of animals in the community.
Mayor Lazatin himself underscored the importance of responsible pet ownership in promoting public health and safety. “I call on all pet owners to have their pets vaccinated during the scheduled Barangay vaccination sessions,” said Mayor Lazatin, urging Angeleños to take advantage of the free vaccinations being offered by the city government.
The program is designed not only to prevent the spread of rabies but also to encourage responsible pet ownership. By providing free vaccinations, the city helps ensure that pet owners can protect their animals without the added financial burden of vaccination costs. This initiative contributes to the broader goal of improving animal care and welfare in the city.
The anti-rabies vaccination drive will continue throughout the city, with the City Veterinary Office coordinating with local barangays to schedule future vaccination sessions. As part of this ongoing effort, residents are encouraged to bring their pets for vaccination during these scheduled events, which are offered at no cost.
Mayor Lazatin’s administration remains dedicated to animal welfare, with ongoing programs aimed at improving public health and promoting responsible pet care. As the vaccination schedule rolls out across all barangays, the city government is hopeful that this initiative will further strengthen the bond between Angeleños and their pets while ensuring a safer and healthier community for all.
