On March 5, 2025, the Angeles City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination campaign for dogs and cats in Barangay Pulung Maragul. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to promote animal welfare and ensure the health and safety of pets in the community.
The vaccination activity, led by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla and his team, is part of a scheduled series of free anti-rabies vaccinations across the city’s 33 barangays. The program aims to provide accessible healthcare for pets while also preventing the spread of rabies, a deadly disease that affects both animals and humans.
Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, a passionate animal lover, emphasized that this initiative has been a cornerstone of the city government’s efforts since Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. assumed office. The program is supervised by Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser, IC Calaguas, and aims to ensure that every pet in the city is protected from rabies and other preventable diseases.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his support for the initiative, stressing the importance of promoting responsible pet ownership among Angeleño households. “We want to ensure that all pet owners are responsible for the welfare of their animals,” Lazatin said. “This is why the city government is offering free vaccination programs to make it easier for pet owners to take care of their animals.”
The Mayor further called on all pet owners to take advantage of the vaccination services being provided. “I call on all pet owners to have their pets vaccinated during the upcoming vaccination events in their respective barangays,” Lazatin urged. “By doing so, we can protect our pets and our community from the risks of rabies.”
This free anti-rabies vaccination initiative reflects the city government’s ongoing commitment to the health and safety of both the residents and their pets. Through these efforts, the local government hopes to foster a community of responsible pet owners who prioritize the welfare of their animals.
As the vaccination schedule continues in other barangays, the city government is working hard to ensure that every pet in Angeles City has access to essential health services, contributing to a safer and healthier community for all.
