ANGELES CITY – In preparation for the upcoming holiday season, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has ordered the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) to activate the Emergency Operations Center and place it on blue alert status. This heightened alert level will take effect from 8:00 AM on December 23, 2024, until 8:00 AM on January 6, 2025, ensuring the safety and security of the public during the holidays.
The mayor’s directive aligns with the guidelines set by the Regional Disaster Risk Management Resource Coordinating Council (RDMRRC) under Memo No. 90, Series of 2024. The initiative aims to proactively manage potential risks and emergencies throughout the season, ensuring a safe environment for both residents and visitors in Angeles City.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized the importance of safety during the festivities. “As we celebrate the season, let us work together to ensure the safety and well-being of every Angeleño. With everyone’s cooperation, we can achieve a peaceful and joyful holiday celebration,” he said. The mayor’s message stresses the importance of community cooperation in maintaining public safety and minimizing risks.
Rodolfo Simeon, the officer-in-charge of ACDRRMO, explained that blue alert status means that emergency teams will be on standby and continuously monitoring the situation. This ensures a swift response to any emergencies that may arise during the holiday period. The heightened alert will also involve continuous coordination between different departments and local authorities to address any threats promptly.
Simeon also called on the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees to stay vigilant in their respective areas. He urged the public to immediately report any incidents to facilitate a quick and effective response. “We urge everyone to promptly report any incidents to ensure immediate action,” Simeon added, reinforcing the need for community involvement in disaster management efforts.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated his appeal for safety and cooperation from the public. “Let us prioritize the safety and well-being of every Angeleño,” the mayor said. “Together, we can ensure a secure and joyous Christmas and New Year.” His message serves as a reminder to the residents to be extra cautious and responsible during the holiday festivities.
