In celebration of National Arts Month, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., launched the “Pupul Ning Kalalangan” visual art exhibit on January 24, 2025, at the MarQuee Mall Exhibit Area. The exhibit, which aims to celebrate and promote Kapampangan artistry, will be open to the public until February 6, 2025.
The event was organized by the Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO), led by Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, and supervised by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel. The exhibit serves as a platform to showcase the talent and creativity of local artists, while also highlighting the city’s rich cultural heritage.
The art exhibit features works from a diverse group of talented Kapampangan artists, including renowned figures such as Norman Tiotuico (Curator), Arnold Salunga, Francis Garzon, Art Sumalde, Joeyboi Galang, Marie DC, and many others. Over 30 local artists are represented in the exhibit, each contributing unique perspectives and styles that reflect the vibrancy of the Kapampangan culture.
Mayor Lazatin expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between the city government, MarQuee Mall, and the Pamitipun King Panyulung Ning Kalalangan At Amanang Kabiasnan Kapampangan (Artist Collective), whose efforts made the exhibit a reality. “This initiative highlights the extraordinary creativity of our local artists and underscores our commitment to preserving and promoting Kapampangan culture,” Mayor Lazatin said during the opening ceremony.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, which marked the official opening of the exhibit, was attended by Vice-Mayor Ma. Vicenta Vega-Cabigting, Councilor Marino Bañola, and ACTO Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui. Their presence underscored the city’s strong support for the arts and its dedication to fostering a vibrant cultural community.
The exhibition not only celebrates local talent but also encourages the public to engage with and appreciate the rich cultural traditions of Pampanga. By providing a platform for local artists, the city hopes to inspire the next generation of creative minds and promote the importance of the arts in society.
As the exhibit continues until February 6, residents and visitors of Angeles City are encouraged to visit the MarQuee Mall and experience the captivating works of Kapampangan artists. The city remains committed to supporting and promoting cultural initiatives that highlight the artistic and historical significance of the region.
