On March 3, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. of Angeles City spearheaded the distribution of P5,000 cash assistance to 270 families displaced from Sitio Balubad in Barangay Anunas. The event, which took place at the Mayor’s Office, was an important step in supporting the affected families as they continue to recover from their eviction in March 2024.
Accompanying Mayor Lazatin during the distribution were City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller and former Angeles City Public Cemetery Head Philip Samson. Together, they ensured that the displaced families received the financial aid as part of the city’s continued effort to address their immediate needs following the eviction.
Mayor Lazatin took the opportunity to reassure the families that the city government remains dedicated to their welfare. He stressed that their support would not end with this cash assistance, highlighting that the city would continue to assist them in rebuilding their lives and securing stable housing.
As part of the long-term support plan, Mayor Lazatin announced the identification of a 3.8-hectare relocation site in the nearby town of Magalang. This area will accommodate approximately 600 families, a number determined by a recent mapping survey conducted by the Angeles City Government. The new site will provide a secure environment for those displaced by the eviction.
Each family relocated to the site in Magalang will be granted a 50-square-meter lot, allowing them the opportunity to finally own their land. Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this would give the families a fresh start, with the security of having their own property and the chance to build permanent homes.
The city government has been actively preparing for the relocation process, ensuring that everything is in place to facilitate a smooth transition for the affected families. This includes taking care of legal, logistical, and community needs to ensure the well-being of the relocated families in their new homes.
With this initiative, the Angeles City Government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting displaced families not just through immediate financial aid but also by providing long-term solutions to their housing and livelihood challenges. The continued effort to assist these families reflects the city’s dedication to their welfare.
