On December 16, 2024, the Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., distributed cash assistance and rice subsidies to 85 differently-abled individuals in Barangay Cutud. Each recipient received ₱1,000 in cash and five kilos of rice through a house-to-house visit, ensuring that assistance reached those in need.
The distribution was organized by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), led by Ryan David. The team worked diligently to ensure that the financial aid and rice were delivered to each qualifying individual. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to provide support to its differently-abled citizens and improve their quality of life.
Ryan David emphasized that this is not the first time Mayor Lazatin has extended financial assistance to persons with disabilities (PWDs). “The welfare of the PWDs has always been one of Mayor Lazatin’s top priorities,” David said. The mayor’s commitment to the sector has been evident in his consistent support for their needs, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to lead fulfilling lives.
Mayor Lazatin’s initiative aims to ease the financial burden faced by differently-abled individuals and their families, particularly during the holiday season. The cash assistance and rice subsidies were provided to help cover daily expenses and ensure that the recipients have access to basic necessities.
In total, 2,500 differently-abled Angeleños are set to benefit from this assistance program. The distribution of ₱1,000 and five kilos of rice to each individual will continue across various barangays in the city, reaching those who need it most. This effort reflects the mayor’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and support for all sectors of the community.
This house-to-house distribution is part of the city’s broader strategy to make essential services and aid more accessible to the public, especially those with mobility challenges. By bringing assistance directly to their homes, the city ensures that individuals with disabilities receive the help they deserve without the need to travel.
Mayor Lazatin has repeatedly emphasized his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of marginalized groups. With these continued efforts, the city government hopes to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for all Angeleños, especially those with special needs.
