The Angeles City Government, under Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began the distribution of P1,000 cash assistance and five kilos of rice to 53 registered solo parents in Barangay Pulungbulu on February 5, 2025. This initiative aims to support the solo parents across the city by easing some of their financial burdens, with the distribution reaching 2,500 registered solo parents from all 33 barangays of Angeles City.
Members of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), led by Francis De Guzman, managed the distribution of the assistance. De Guzman highlighted that the beneficiaries are registered with the solo parents’ affairs office, ensuring that the aid reaches those who need it most. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the solo parents, saying that they deeply appreciate Mayor Lazatin’s continuous support.
De Guzman further explained that this initiative is part of a broader effort to empower the solo parents in Angeles City, ensuring they have access to the help they are entitled to. He noted that the CSWDO has been issuing IDs to members of the solo parents community since Mayor Lazatin’s administration began in 2019. These IDs allow solo parents to avail themselves of various benefits, including financial assistance and other government support programs.
In addition to the cash assistance and rice subsidy, the city government also supports solo parents through livelihood programs, such as the Angeleño First Facemask project. This initiative provides solo parents with opportunities to earn income and improve their quality of life. The program underscores the city’s commitment to empowering solo parents and helping them achieve financial independence.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the welfare of solo parents is a priority for his administration. By providing both immediate financial assistance and long-term livelihood opportunities, the city government aims to create a supportive environment where solo parents can thrive and provide for their families.
This distribution of aid reflects the city’s ongoing efforts to assist marginalized sectors of society, ensuring that they receive the support they need to overcome challenges. Through these programs, the Angeles City Government is working to alleviate the struggles faced by solo parents, helping them feel more secure and valued.
As the program continues across the city’s barangays, Mayor Lazatin and the CSWDO remain dedicated to improving the lives of solo parents. The assistance, along with other government support, highlights the city’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and caring community for all its residents.
