The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began the house-to-house distribution of P3,000 in financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to bedridden senior citizens and elderly individuals aged 90-99 years old in Barangay Sapalibutad on January 28, 2025. This initiative aims to support the city’s elderly residents by providing them with both financial relief and health supplements.
During the distribution, Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by members of the Barangay Sapalibutad Council, led by Captain Cristina Pineda. The event is part of a larger program that will benefit a total of 664 registered bedridden senior citizens and 612 senior citizens aged 90-99 years across all 33 barangays in the city.
In addition to the financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements, the elderly beneficiaries will also receive free medical check-ups and laboratory tests, which will be provided by the City Health Office and the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO). This comprehensive approach ensures that seniors not only receive immediate assistance but also access necessary health services to improve their overall well-being.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the welfare of the elderly has always been a top priority of his administration. “We must continue to prioritize the needs of our bedridden elderly and those aged 90-99 years old, ensuring they have the support they need to live their lives with dignity,” Mayor Lazatin said. The program demonstrates the city’s ongoing commitment to improving the lives of its senior citizens, particularly those in vulnerable conditions.
Eduardo Torres, the head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), led the distribution of the assistance, highlighting that this initiative began in 2019, following Mayor Lazatin’s assumption of office. Torres noted that it was under Mayor Lazatin’s leadership that registered seniors began receiving cash aid and Vitamin C supplements, marking a significant improvement in the city’s support for the elderly.
The distribution of assistance to the elderly is not only a reflection of the city’s commitment to its senior citizens but also a sign of the importance placed on health and wellness for all sectors of the community. Mayor Lazatin’s administration has consistently worked to ensure that elderly residents are provided with the resources and support they need.
As the program continues, the city government plans to expand its efforts to cover more elderly residents, providing them with the necessary aid, healthcare services, and attention they deserve. The initiative reflects the city’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its most senior citizens.
