On October 28, 2024, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., alongside officials from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), delivered financial assistance to 24 households in Barangay Pampang, which were severely impacted by Typhoon Carina. The aid was part of ongoing recovery efforts for residents affected by the storm.
During the distribution, one family who tragically lost a loved one in the typhoon was provided with P30,000, while the remaining 23 individuals from the affected households each received P10,000. The support was a crucial step in helping these families rebuild their lives after the devastating effects of the natural disaster.
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) was represented by key officials, including Engr. Laila Castillo, OIC of the Public Housing and Settlements Division for Region 3, Pietro Angelo Santiago, OIC of the Admin and Finance Division, and Dennis Puzon, OIC of the Home Owners Association and Community Development Division. These leaders were present on behalf of Regional Director Julius Ervin Enciso, who could not attend the event.
Also attending the event were local government officials, including City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso, City Nutrition Officer Francis De Guzman, and Angeles City Human Settlements and Urban Development Office Deputy Rowel Nava. Their presence emphasized the collective effort of both local and national agencies in addressing the needs of the affected families.
The event marked a significant moment in the ongoing recovery process for Barangay Pampang. The financial aid provided will help ease the burden of the affected residents, enabling them to purchase essential items and begin the process of rebuilding their homes and lives after the typhoon’s destruction.
Typhoon Carina, which caused widespread damage in the region, left many families struggling with damaged homes and the loss of livelihood. This assistance is part of the government’s broader initiative to provide support for the rehabilitation of areas severely affected by natural calamities.
Mayor Lazatin and the DHSUD officials reiterated the commitment of both local and national government agencies to continue supporting the recovery efforts, ensuring that affected families have the resources needed to rebuild their lives and return to normalcy as quickly as possible.
