On March 3, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. of Angeles City led the distribution of P5,000 cash assistance to each of the 270 families displaced from Sitio Balubad, Barangay Anunas. The distribution took place at the Mayor’s Office, where the affected families received the much-needed support as they continue to rebuild their lives after being evicted from their homes in March 2024.
Mayor Lazatin was accompanied by City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller and former Angeles City Public Cemetery Head Philip Samson during the event. The distribution of financial assistance is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to help these families recover from the hardships they have faced due to their forced displacement.
During the event, Mayor Lazatin assured the former Sitio Balubad residents that the city government remains committed to supporting their welfare. He emphasized that the city will continue to work closely with them to address their needs and provide assistance as they transition to new living arrangements.
The mayor also revealed plans for a permanent relocation site for the displaced families. According to Lazatin, a 3.8-hectare property in nearby Magalang town has been identified to accommodate approximately 600 families. This site will provide a new home for the affected families, giving them a fresh start in a safe and secure environment.
Each family will be allotted a 50-square-meter lot in the new relocation site. This move aims to provide displaced families with the opportunity to own their land and build stable homes, ensuring long-term stability and security for the affected families. The city has been preparing for the relocation process to ensure a smooth transition for all beneficiaries.
The Mayor also highlighted that a recent mapping conducted by the Angeles LGU identified the families who will benefit from the relocation project. The city government has been working diligently to prepare all necessary arrangements, including legal and logistical aspects of the relocation.
As part of its commitment to the displaced families, the Angeles City Government will continue to offer financial and social support during the relocation process and beyond. Mayor Lazatin’s leadership demonstrates a strong dedication to improving the lives of the city’s most vulnerable residents.
