On March 11, 2025, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. officially handed over a cheque to Eric Poon, representing payment for land that will be used for the city’s housing project. This move is part of the ongoing efforts by the city government to provide decent housing for its residents. The land transaction is crucial in the city’s goal of relocating 600 families from Barangay Anunas.
Mayor Lazatin signed a Deed of Absolute Sale with the Poon family, marking a significant step in the relocation project. The relocation site will be in Magalang town, where the 600 families will receive a 50-square-meter lot each. Mayor Lazatin emphasized that this land would give the beneficiaries the opportunity to finally own a property, securing a better future for them.
The relocation of families from Sitio Balubad in Barangay Anunas has been one of Mayor Lazatin’s priorities since his tenure began. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the residents of Sitio Balubad, stating, “I have never abandoned the residents of Sitio Balubad and will continue to support them as long as I can.” This housing initiative aims to uplift the lives of families who have long faced housing challenges.
In attendance during the cheque turnover event were City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Barangay Anunas Captain Augusto Flores, and former Angeles City Public Cemetery Head Philip Samson. Their presence highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving this project and ensuring that the relocation process goes smoothly.
The housing project is part of the city’s broader initiative to address housing shortages and improve the living conditions of residents in need. By providing families with land for their own homes, the city government aims to foster a sense of stability and community for those who have struggled with inadequate living situations.
This move also underscores Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Angeleños, particularly those who have long been marginalized or affected by informal settlements. Through such projects, the city government hopes to create a more inclusive and sustainable urban environment.
As the city progresses with its housing initiatives, Mayor Lazatin and the local government continue to focus on providing essential services and support to those who need it most, ensuring that every Angeleño has the opportunity for a better and more secure future.
