On March 3, 2025, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. officially handed over a cheque to John Quiazon, representing payment for a land purchase that will be used for the city’s housing project. This payment marks a significant step toward providing affordable housing for underprivileged families in the city. The Quiazon family’s land, located in Barangay Capaya, will serve as the site for an on-site relocation project aimed at housing 34 families.
Mayor Lazatin previously signed a Deed of Absolute Sale with the Quiazon family for the purchase of the land. This transaction is part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to provide decent housing to urban poor families, ensuring that they have a secure and stable living environment. The project is designed to uplift the living conditions of disadvantaged residents and offer them the opportunity to own their homes.
In addition to Mayor Lazatin, the event was attended by several key city officials, including City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Barangay Capaya Captain Rafael Bondoc, and Angeles City Human Settlement and Urban Development Office (ACHSUDO) Deputy Rowel Nava. Their presence underscored the importance of this initiative and the collaborative effort required to make it a reality.
The land purchase and subsequent housing project are part of Mayor Lazatin’s commitment to addressing the city’s housing needs, especially for the urban poor. Through these efforts, the city aims to provide safe, affordable housing options for families who have long struggled with inadequate living conditions. The initiative is expected to improve the overall quality of life for the relocated families and help reduce homelessness in Angeles City.
This housing project also aligns with the city government’s broader strategy to combat illegal squatting and informal settlements. By offering residents the chance to move into legal, well-constructed homes, the city hopes to eliminate the prevalence of squatter communities and promote a more orderly and sustainable urban environment.
The relocation of these 34 families will not only provide them with a permanent residence but also contribute to the overall development of Barangay Capaya. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the local community, creating a more cohesive and stable environment for all residents.
As part of its long-term goals, the Angeles City Government remains focused on improving the welfare of its citizens, particularly the marginalized sectors. Mayor Lazatin’s efforts reflect his dedication to providing a brighter future for all residents, especially those in need of better housing opportunities.
