The Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., began its house-to-house distribution of P3,000 financial assistance and Vitamin C supplements to 24 bedridden senior citizens and four seniors aged 90-99 in Barangay Pulung Cacutud on January 27, 2025. This initiative is aimed at supporting the city’s elderly residents, ensuring their well-being during the ongoing pandemic.
During the distribution, Mayor Lazatin was joined by members of the Barangay Pulung Cacutud Council, led by Captain Francisco Cura. The program, which spans the 33 barangays of Angeles City, will benefit 664 registered bedridden senior citizens and 612 senior citizens aged 90-99. All will receive the financial assistance along with the vital health supplements, continuing the city’s commitment to its elderly citizens.
In addition to the cash aid and Vitamin C, the bedridden elderly and those aged 90-99 will also be provided with free medical check-ups and laboratory tests. These services will be made available through the City Health Office and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO), ensuring that seniors receive comprehensive healthcare support.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that his administration remains committed to prioritizing the health and welfare of elderly residents, particularly those who are bedridden or in the advanced age group. “This program is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure our elderly citizens receive the care and support they deserve,” said Mayor Lazatin.
The distribution of financial assistance to seniors in Angeles City was first implemented in 2019, following Mayor Lazatin’s assumption of office. Since then, it has been expanded to include not only cash aid but also health supplements like Vitamin C, which helps support the immune system of the elderly.
Eduardo Torres, head of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), led the distribution effort, ensuring that the assistance reached those in need. Torres noted that the initiative has been well-received by the senior citizens, who are grateful for the continued support from the city government.
As part of his commitment to the welfare of the elderly, Mayor Lazatin has consistently ensured that seniors in the city receive regular aid and services. The current initiative reflects his long-standing dedication to making sure every Angeleño, especially senior citizens, enjoys a healthy and dignified life.
