Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. visited the ongoing facelift of the primary health care unit in Barangay Cutud on January 17, 2025, as part of the city’s efforts to provide accessible and high-quality health services to all Angeleños. The inspection underscores the city’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to essential medical services for its residents.
During the visit, Mayor Lazatin was joined by key city officials, including Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, City Engineer’s Officer-in-Charge Helen Ayro, General Services Officer Evangeline Malonzo, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, and City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra. Together, they reviewed the progress of the ongoing renovations and discussed the next steps to ensure the facility meets the health needs of the community.
The upcoming addition of nine primary health care units in Barangays Pulungbulu, Pulung Maragul, Cutud, Anunas, Capaya, Amsic, Malabanias, Tabun, and Balibago will bring the total number of primary health care units in the city to 15. This expansion is designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the city’s population, with the new units joining the existing ones in Barangays Pandan, Sto. Domingo, Lourdes Sur East, Lourdes Northwest, Pulung Cacutud, and Balibago.
Mayor Lazatin explained that the repairs and renovations of these nine health care units, which began in 2023, are essential to ensure that the city has the ideal number of healthcare facilities to serve its population. “With the ongoing repair and renovation of nine more health care units, the city will have the ideal number of available health care units based on our population,” the mayor stated.
The primary health care units are integral to the city’s healthcare system, providing residents with access to preventive care, medical consultations, immunizations, and treatment for common illnesses. The expansion of these facilities will reduce the strain on larger hospitals and improve healthcare accessibility, particularly for residents in more remote areas of the city.
Mayor Lazatin emphasized that the expansion of healthcare services aligns with his administration’s commitment to equitable development. Reflecting on the values of his father, Former First District Rep. and Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, the mayor shared his belief that “those who have less in life must have more from the government.” This guiding principle has been a cornerstone of his administration’s approach to public service.
With the ongoing expansion of primary health care units, Angeles City is poised to enhance the quality of life for its residents, ensuring that everyone has access to essential healthcare services. The continued focus on health infrastructure is a testament to Mayor Lazatin’s dedication to the well-being of the city’s residents.
