The City Government of Angeles, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police – Regional Office 3, will conduct a License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) Caravan on January 6, 2025, at the Liga ng mga Barangay in the city. The event aims to provide a convenient platform for local government employees, elected officials, and qualified gun owners residing in Angeles City to secure or renew their firearm licenses.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. made the announcement through a memorandum released on January 2, highlighting the importance of the caravan in ensuring that all firearm owners comply with legal requirements. “This event underscores our commitment to ensuring that all firearm owners in Angeles City comply with the regulations set forth by law,” Mayor Lazatin said. He further encouraged residents to take advantage of the opportunity to streamline the licensing process.
The caravan is designed to assist city employees and other eligible individuals in acquiring the necessary permits for firearm ownership and possession, promoting a safe and secure environment. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to regulate firearm ownership and encourage responsible gun ownership among residents.
Local government employees and elected officials will be given priority access, but the caravan will also be open to other qualified gun owners residing in Angeles City. Those wishing to participate are advised to bring the required documents and meet all the necessary qualifications to facilitate the licensing process.
The LTOPF Caravan will provide a one-stop service for the application and renewal of firearm licenses, making it easier for individuals to meet the legal requirements without the need to travel long distances. It is expected to assist numerous city residents and streamline the application process for firearm ownership.
The initiative also aims to address concerns regarding illegal firearms in the community, with the Philippine National Police providing support in verifying qualifications, processing applications, and issuing the necessary licenses. By regulating firearm ownership, the city government aims to reduce the presence of unregistered firearms and improve safety for everyone.
Mayor Lazatin reiterated the importance of this initiative as part of the city’s broader strategy to ensure peace and order. “We encourage all interested individuals to take advantage of this convenient opportunity,” he added, emphasizing that the city is committed to maintaining a secure environment for all its residents.
