On November 13, 2024, a brief but important meeting took place at the Mayor’s Office Conference Room, bringing together key city officials and representatives of the Angeles City Public School Teachers Association (ACPUSTA). Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel met with ACPUSTA President Jerome Esguerra to discuss preparations for the upcoming Christmas celebration for the city’s public school teachers.
During the meeting, Calaguas revealed a special initiative from Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. to express gratitude to the hardworking educators of Angeles City. The mayor has pledged to provide food for the estimated 3,000 public school teachers who will attend the annual Christmas party. This thoughtful gesture is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to show appreciation for the essential role teachers play in shaping the future of the community.
In addition to covering the food for the party, Mayor Lazatin will also be donating raffle prizes to add an element of excitement to the event. These prizes are intended to make the celebration even more memorable for the teachers, who have dedicated their time and effort to educating the city’s youth. The raffle will be one of the highlights of the event, providing both fun and recognition for the teachers.
Calaguas and Manuel also committed to sponsoring the venue for the Christmas party, ensuring that the celebration will be held in a suitable and festive location. By offering these resources, the city officials aim to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and appreciation among the teachers, reinforcing the community’s collective respect for their hard work.
Mayor Lazatin expressed that the support for the teachers goes beyond material gifts, as it is a simple yet meaningful way to acknowledge their commitment and dedication. He emphasized that the city’s educators are vital to the growth and development of the youth, and such gestures of appreciation are important to uplift their spirits, especially as they head into the holiday season.
Esguerra, along with ACPUSTA members Hans Taruc and Vennesa Pagaduan, was pleased with the support shown by the city government. The association expressed its gratitude for the generosity, knowing that these contributions would make the upcoming Christmas celebration a joyous occasion for all the teachers involved. The collaboration between the city government and ACPUSTA marks another milestone in strengthening the bond between local educators and their leadership.
As the city prepares for the festivities, it is clear that the efforts to celebrate the teachers’ contributions reflect Mayor Lazatin’s administration’s commitment to uplifting the morale of the public school sector. With these initiatives in place, the teachers of Angeles City are sure to have a memorable and meaningful Christmas celebration this year.
