On January 28, 2025, Angeles City will unveil the Angeleño Alerto! 24/7 Mobile App – Personal On-call Guard Interface (POGI), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving emergency response. This first-of-its-kind app in Pampanga will enable residents to directly report emergencies and share their exact location with responders from the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO).
The launch event, which will take place at the covered court of Barangay Pandan, will feature a live simulation exercise to demonstrate how the app works. According to Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., the app will streamline the emergency response process by reducing response times, ensuring that help arrives faster during critical situations.
“The safety of every Angeleño is our priority,” said Mayor Lazatin. “With this app, we can reduce response time, ensuring help arrives faster during critical moments.” The app is part of the mayor’s commitment to minimizing emergency response times and enhancing the overall safety of the city.
Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, who played a significant role in the development of the app, explained that the app allows users to share their location with emergency responders, even if they are unable to directly communicate. This feature ensures a more accurate and efficient response, especially when time is of the essence.
“With this technology, we empower Angeleños to take control of their safety,” Calaguas stated. “No matter where you are, help is now just a tap away.” The app promises to make emergency assistance faster and more reliable, saving lives in urgent situations.
Information Communication and Technology Division Chief Mike Lising further explained that the app is easy to install and free to download. It includes a user-friendly registration process for both residents and responders, with responders from ACDRRMO, the Bureau of Fire Protection – Angeles City, and the Angeles City Traffic and Management Enforcement Unit all integrated into the system.
To help users navigate the app, step-by-step instructions for registration and usage will be posted on the Angeles City Information Office’s official Facebook page. This launch is part of the city’s broader initiative to improve disaster preparedness and public safety, ensuring that help is always available when needed most.
