Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. recently held a meeting on November 6, 2024, to discuss key developments at the Pampang Public Market. He was joined by Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Environmental Management System Head Kiko Pangilinan in reviewing the plans for a new dry goods station, chicken stalls, and a multi-level parking building set to open soon.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming inauguration of the market’s new facilities, which aim to enhance the market’s operations and provide better services to vendors and customers alike. A major highlight of the project is a three-story building designed to house 200 new stalls for dry goods vendors.
These dry goods stalls are especially significant, as they will accommodate vendors who were displaced following a devastating fire that ravaged the market in November 2020. The new stalls are part of a concerted effort to restore the livelihood of those affected by the tragedy, providing them with more secure and modern spaces to operate.
The new building will feature steel parking spaces on the second and third floors, addressing the growing demand for parking in the area. The ground level, however, will be dedicated to the dry goods stalls and a food court, creating a more organized and accessible shopping environment for customers.
According to Mayor Lazatin, the opening of these new facilities marks a significant milestone in the city’s efforts to modernize the Pampang Public Market. The revamped market will not only serve as a commercial hub but also as a symbol of recovery and resilience for the local community.
The public market’s reopening is expected to take place in the first week of December 2024, with local officials hopeful that the new facilities will bring a boost to the local economy. The improved infrastructure is seen as an essential step in the city’s commitment to upgrading public spaces and improving the quality of life for residents.
Once completed, the new market complex is expected to create more business opportunities and job openings, further fostering economic growth in the region. Residents and vendors alike are excited about the upcoming reopening, as it promises to offer a modernized space that caters to the needs of both the community and the local economy.
