Angeles City celebrated the success of the third edition of the “Pogi Ya ing Barangay Ku” contest on November 18, 2024, with an awards ceremony held at Royce Hotel. The event recognized the outstanding performance of various barangays in the city, highlighting their efforts in community development and engagement.
Barangay Malabanias emerged as the grand champion, scoring an impressive 93.7% in the competition. As the top winner, Barangay Malabanias was awarded a cash prize of ₱1.5 million. The contest served as a platform to recognize the hard work and dedication of local leaders and residents who strive to improve their communities through various programs and initiatives.
In second place, Barangay Pampang impressed the judges with a score of 91%, securing a cash prize of ₱600,000. The achievement was a testament to the collective efforts of the barangay’s officials and residents in creating a positive and sustainable environment for their constituents.
Barangay Margot, another strong contender, secured third place with a score of 90.5%. Their efforts earned them a cash prize of ₱300,000. The recognition highlighted the continuous progress of the barangay in enhancing the quality of life for its residents through various community-driven programs and projects.
The “Pogi Ya ing Barangay Ku” contest was designed to encourage barangays to actively engage in projects that benefit their communities, focusing on aspects like governance, health, education, and environmental management. The competition also provided a platform for showcasing the achievements of barangays in the city.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the participation of all barangays, emphasizing that their efforts contribute significantly to the development and well-being of the city.
