The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has marked a significant milestone in the development of the Philippine Air Force’s (PAF) new housing facilities. This comes as the BCDA officially began the ₱4.24-billion project to relocate the PAF’s residential areas from their current location in Clark Freeport, Pampanga, to a new 65-hectare property in New Clark City, Tarlac. The groundbreaking ceremony for this ambitious undertaking was held recently, signaling the project’s progression toward completion.
The move is part of a broader effort to enhance the living conditions of the Air Force personnel, offering them modern facilities and better living standards. The new housing complex is expected to provide a significant improvement in terms of accessibility and the quality of life for military families, aligning with the government’s goal of creating sustainable, world-class infrastructure within the New Clark City development.
The project will involve the construction of a variety of amenities, including residential units, recreational areas, and essential services. These will support not only the daily needs of the families but also contribute to a sense of community for those serving in the armed forces. Officials expect the relocation to streamline the PAF’s operations while ensuring that personnel are accommodated in a modern, integrated urban environment.
BCDA President and CEO, Aileen Zosa, highlighted the importance of this project in relation to the government’s long-term vision for New Clark City. She emphasized that the development of modern military housing would help enhance national security by providing a more stable and effective environment for military personnel to live and work. This project also forms part of the government’s broader initiative to expand and develop the Clark Freeport Zone, creating a thriving metropolitan hub in Central Luzon.
New Clark City itself is part of the government’s ambitious plans to decongest Metro Manila, encouraging economic and population growth in nearby provinces. The development is positioned as a hub for government offices, commercial enterprises, and residential areas, making it an ideal location for military housing. By relocating the Air Force’s facilities to this area, the government aims to further strengthen the city’s role in regional growth and development.
The ₱4.24-billion investment will not only cover the construction of the housing units but also the necessary infrastructure to support the broader needs of military families. This includes utilities, transportation, and other essential services designed to ensure a high quality of life. The move will also enhance the operational efficiency of the Philippine Air Force, positioning it well for future challenges.
As the project progresses, BCDA officials remain committed to completing the transfer within the set timelines, with the full relocation expected to bring long-term benefits to both the PAF and the local community. The relocation to New Clark City is expected to set a new standard for military housing and serve as a model for similar projects across the country.
