His father, Carmelo Feliciano Lazatin, served as both a congressman and mayor of Angeles City, and his brother, Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., is the current mayor of Angeles City.
Jon Lazatin’s political career began in 2016 when he was elected as the congressman for Pampanga’s First District. Demonstrating effective leadership and dedication, he was re-elected in 2019 and 2022, running unopposed under the PDP-Laban party. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, Lazatin held several key positions, including Vice Chairperson roles in the Committees on Bases Conversion, Flagship Programs and Projects, and Transportation. He was instrumental in authoring and co-authoring numerous bills, with 66 becoming Republic Acts, reflecting his commitment to legislative progress.
Lazatin’s dedication to his constituents is evident through various initiatives. He collaborated with national agencies to train 741 scholars through TESDA and supported 18,335 beneficiaries via the DOLE’s TUPAD program, focusing on inclusive growth and empowerment. In infrastructure, he oversaw the construction of 35 bridges, 97,221 meters of flood control systems, and 174 multi-purpose buildings, significantly enhancing the district’s development.
